1857: San Jos茅 State is founded and becomes California鈥檚 first public institution of higher education.

1935: Renamed San Jos茅 State College.

1949: Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), now the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).

1960: The California State Colleges are unified under the Donahoe Higher Education Act, forming the CSU system.

1974: Renamed San Jos茅 State University.

1982: The system formally becomes the California State University (CSU).

2015: WASC Reaffirmation 91暗网: Accreditation reaffirmed for seven years.
