Purpose: The Associate of Applied Arts degree Jazz/Popular Music Specialization is designed for students who seek employment in performing Jazz and Popular Music.
Transfer Information: Transfer is not the primary purpose of an A.A.S. program, but 91°µÍø has articulation agreements that facilitate the transfer of this and other career-oriented programs to selected senior institutions. Students interested in transfer should contact a counselor or their academic advisor early in their program.
Admission Requirements: Applied music students: Tuition fees are payable to the College. Studio charges are payable to applied music instructors. Applied proficiency requirements must be met in order for students to advance to the 200-level of applied music courses. Piano proficiency skills are required of all Music majors.
Recommended Preparation: An interview with the music faculty may be required before beginning the program.

1 Class instruction such as Class Voice or Class Piano may be substituted.
2 The PED requirement may be met by one of the following options: PED 116, 2 cr.; PED 116, 1 cr. plus a PED activities course, 1 cr.; or PED 116, 1 cr. plus RPK activities course. PED 116 is offered as both a 1-credit and a 2-credit course.
3 The social science elective may be selected from the social/behavioral sciences courses listed under General Education Electives.
4 Students may substitute the SDV 101 Orientation section related to this program.
5 Humanities/fine arts elective may be selected from the humanities/fine arts courses listed under General Education Electives. Elective should be selected with advice of a counselor or academic advisor to meet requirements of transfer institution.
